I must take the time out for a special shout out to fellow Oaklander – Kwan Booth – who represented at his year’s San Fran Music Tech Summit. The gathering of Music Techies and industry folks was held on May 18th. Read Kwan Booth’s review of the Summit here. In the name of Boothism.
Representing at this year’s San Fran Music Tech Summit were the jazzy vocalist Phat Man Dee and Future of Music Coalition’s Jean Cook – FOMC’s Deputy Director and panellist at this year’s Summit. FOMC does some amazing work and their website alone is a wealth of information that includes articles, interviews and policy reviews that cover issues at the intersection of music, law, technology and policy. Amongst these are two articles – “The Effects of Media Consolidation on Urban Radio” and “Net Neutrality and Urban Music” – both written by Oakland, CA based journalist, Eric K. Arnold. The “Net Neutrality” article includes commentary by Fusicology Founder Asya Shein. Subscribe to FOMC’s (very) informative newsletter, which is archived for your reading pleasure.
